Buffalo's oldest credit union has a lot to celebrate for its 90th birthday, including a new name and a new headquarters.
One Credit Union, formerly Buffalo Service Credit Union, changed its name and its logo last summer. In November, it opened a new branch in a former Northwest Bank building at 3517 Union Road in Cheektowaga.
CEO Jim Furman said the old name caused confusion, as potential members thought the credit union was only open to certain groups.
When Buffalo Service Credit Union was founded in 1933, it was only for federal employees working locally.
