Development in Raleigh to the east of North Hills has been highlighted by Raleigh Iron Works and The Exchange Raleigh, but another development that will help ignite what had been a rundown part of town is also emerging — and hoping to establish a new identity for that part of town.
The East End Market project is still evolving, with large swaths of concrete and vacant space where future development will come, but it got a boost this week when East End Bistro opened. Not long ago, opening a high-end French bistro in a part of town dominated by auto repair shops and rusty industrial space would have seemed ridiculous.
